All In One Cloth Diapers (AIO) are amongst the most popular reusable diapers because they are so easy to use! They are just one piece (the liner is optional), meaning no need to juggle different parts when changing your baby’s diaper.
I must say I was a bit skeptical about AIOs with my first daughter as I hated the idea of having to wash the whole diaper every time. So I mainly used hybrid diapers with her. However, I rediscovered them with my second daughter and I now absolutely love them. Never a leak, and so easy to put on, considering my daughter doesn’t like to lie down on her back for more than 2 seconds 🙂
In this article I am going to take you through what I think are the best all in one cloth diapers out there for your baby! The list has been put together taking into consideration many different factors, such as fit, sizes, price, absorbency or range of patterns and colors.

Features of All In One Cloth Diapers
First of all, here’s all the feature of all in one cloth diapers:
- They are just one piece!
- They come in either different sizes or “one size fits all”. One size AIOs have snaps so that you can adjust them to fit nicely around your baby.
- They close with either hook & loop or snaps.
- You can increase their absorbency buy adding an extra insert, particularly at night.
- The waterproof cover is made of PUL (Laminated Polyester), whereas the insert can be made of either natural or synthetic (or a combination of both) fabrics.
Pros and Cons of All in One Cloth Diapers
Like I mentioned above, I have used AIOs with my both my daughters, particularly my second one, and I absolutely love them. The convenience of having just one piece is great!
I do prefer the idea of having the cover separate from the insert like with Hybrid diapers, so that I can keep re-using the cover multiple times. However, that is not always feasible, and I learnt that the hard way with my second daughter: she’s so wriggly on the changing mat that trying to put her diaper on with the insert in place is nearly impossible.
All-in-ones solved all of my problems.
However, every child and parent is different, and what worked for me might not work for you. So, to understand whether all in ones cloth diapers could actually work for you, here’s all their pros and cons.

Advantages of AIOs
- They are as easy to use as disposables, with the difference that you are saving tons of money and doing something good for the environment.
- They are very popular with dads and daycares or nannies because they are just one piece.

Disadvantages of AIOs
- They can take a longer time to dry compared to other diapers. Because they are only one piece, you can’t dry the outer separate from the insert. However, many AIOs have the absorbent inside part that pulls out for a faster drying time.
- They can be quite expensive. Because you can’t reuse the waterproof cover, while changing just the insert, you need to invest in a higher number of diapers.
- They are not usually as absorbent as other types of diapers, so not always ideal at night. That said, you can often increase absorbency by adding a booster insert.

Without further ado, here’s a list of the best AIOs cloth diapers, taking into consideration price, quality and pros/cons.
Note: You may stumble across the Charlie Banana Cloth Diapers as being advertised as AIO/Hybrid Diapers. However, they are pocket diapers! As such, I have included them in the Best Pocket / Modern Cloth Diapers.

#1 TotsBots EasyFit Star
I love the TotsBots EasyFit Star. I mainly use this and the Bambino Mio Mio Solo with my second daughter. It just fits all the boxes: comfort, absorbency, hook & look (I prefer hook & loop to snaps), super cute designs!
It comes in one size for babies that are 8 to 35 lbs. However, Totsbots also offers a smaller size for tiny babies called Totsbots Teenyfit. The inside of the diaper is made of a super absorbent bamboo core and a stay dry buffer zones to keep the wetness locked in. The tummy area in particular is waterproof, keeping your little one dry even when sleeping on the belly (like my daughter, who prefers to sleep on the tummy!).The unique stitch free seams also mean no leaks.
An extra bonus that I love? The diapers are made from environmentally friendly fabrics! In fact, the waterproof PUL is made from 100% recycled plastic.
The only downside? The drying time is a bit longer compared to other AIO diapers, as there’s no insert that can snap off and dry separately.

#2 Bambino Mio Miosolo
I use the Bambino Mio Miosolo so much with my second daughter and absolutely love it! I prefer hook & loop to snaps and this one is nice and easy to put on and take off for me. It also fits very nice around baby’s bottom and legs.
It has an attached insert made of Polyester and Nylon that folds within a pocket. This really reduces drying times. The insert has a pull-out string that makes it incredibly easy to pull it out, and a little pocket that helps tucking it in with your hand. Some people get a bit bothered with the pocket, so they just fold the insert on the inside. However, the polyester liner from the pocket is what keeps the bum nice and dry, so the insert should really be in the pocket.
The diaper can also be stuffed with a booster pad to maximize absorbency. Bambino Mio sells their own booster pads, and you can buy them here.
Like for the BumGenius diaper, it only comes in one size from 8 lbs+, so if you have a little newborn you may need to look for a different cloth diaper. It also comes in a fun range of colors and patterns.

#3 BumGenius Freetime
I love BumGenius products. I used their pocket diaper all the way with my first daughter. The elastics just gave up a little bit at the end of her third year. I also tried this model back when my first daughter was little and was quite pleased.
The BumGenius Freetime is only available in one size (8 to 35 lbs), which is great unless you have a very tiny baby. In that case, BumGenius doesn’t offer a newborn option. It’s available with either snaps or hook & loop, so I like the fact that you can choose what works best for you. It is also very stretchy so it doesn’t leave red marks like other diapers do.
One thing that’s interesting about this diaper is its inserts. It has 2 semi-attached inserts that can be folded in different ways to adjust absorbency. They allow for faster drying times and are made of microfiber to keep the bum dry. There’s also an extra layer of microfiber sewn into the shell. I am not 100% sold on this system: I personally think it’s an overkill and would prefer only one semi-attached insert.
It comes in a fun range of colors and patterns, which is always nice when shopping for your little baby.

#4 GroVia O.N.E
GroVia O.N.E. is an awesome AIO diaper. It’s such a pity that they only ship to the US. It has a unique design that uses a modular snap-in soaker system, which is completely customizable. In fact, the diaper comes with 2 inserts, a smaller one and a bigger one, that can be snapped on and off. You can either use only one of the two, or use them both with the smaller one on top or at the bottom. You choose what you prefer. The system allows for faster drying times and you can also purchase a separate GroVia snap-in booster for older babies or heavy wetters.
The inserts are made of cotton and a top stay-dry microfleece material, plus the waterproof cover contains another absorbency layer within.
Another unique feature is the removable hook & loop closure that can be easily changed to a snap closure at any time. This way you can choose the system you want and you can remove the hook & loop when washing the diaper so that it doesn’t get damaged.
This diaper also comes in one size, but for babies from 10 lbs+. GroVia does sell AIOs for newborns and you can have a look at them here.

#5 Nicki’s Diapers AIO
Nicki’s Diapers AIOs come with the choice of bamboo or microfleece / microfiber material. I particularly like the bamboo one as its absorbency is great. The insert snaps out for easier drying, which is always handy. Because the cover doesn’t have absorbency itself, and the insert snaps off, some would technically call this an all-in-two or hybrid diaper 🙂
This diaper is also extra gentle around baby’s legs compared to other diapers. It comes in one size from 8 lbs+, and Nicki’s Diapers also sell a newborn AIO that you can purchase here. It comes with either snaps or hook & loop closure.
The range of colors and patterns is quite impressive and I really like most designs!
#6 Thirsties One Size AIO
The Thirsties One Size diaper has a pull-out system similar to the Bambino Mio diaper. It is made of a 4 layer microfiber soaker topped with a microfleece stay-dry layer that’s got only one side attached to the cover. This makes drying faster and allows you to add another insert for extra absorbency. Thirsties sells their own booster soakers.
I have personally had a few leaks with this one. I don’t think they last as long as other AIOs, unless you add a booster soaker, which kind of defeats the purpose of having an all-in-one. I don’t mind using a booster, but only at night. Otherwise they look way too bulky and I don’t think they are as comfortable when baby is a bit older and moving around quite a lot.
It comes in one size from 8 lbs+, and Thirsties also sells a newborn cloth diaper that you can purchase here. They are only available with the hook & loop system and come in a cute range of colors and patterns.

It’s super easy, just throw them in the wash with the rest of your clothes and hang them in the sun to get rid of any stains! If there is poop on it, first rinse it in the toilet.
