Baby’s first Christmas is such a special and sentimental time for every new parent. A time that’s definitely worth commemorating and remembering with an ornament that will last forever: a beautiful keepsake that you can take out and hang on the Christmas tree year after year.

I was given a very similar one for my first daughter and I absolutely fell in love with it.

This Bear on the Moon Christmas Ornament is adorable and another one of my favorite keepsakes. It is also made of porcelain and the printing is on both sides. The diameter is 3″.
3) Our First Christmas as a Family of Three Ornament
For a different take on the more traditional baby’s first Christmas ornaments, this keepsake ornament is for a “first Christmas as a family of three”, focusing on the whole family instead of just the new baby.

14) Little Boxes Christmas Ornament
What I love about these Little Wooden Boxes is that they make up such a unique baby’s first Christmas keepsake: so different from anything else that you can find.
It is made up of four miniature baby blocks stacked on top of each other. Each block is 1″ x 1″ and made of natural solid wood. The sides of the ornament are as follows:
- Side 1: the four blocks spell out BABY.
- Side 2: the first couple blocks say, “1st Christmas” and the last block contains the year.
- Side 3: blocks spell out the first name of the baby.

Here we are finally: my favorite types of Christmas ornaments for baby’s first Christmas! if you have the time and you enjoy doing some arts and crafts, these baby’s first Christmas keepsakes will definitely hold a special place in you heart.
21) Little Feet Mistletoes
These mistletoe from Danya is made with the shape of little feet from your babies and is the cutest: you can use it either as a mistletoe or as a tree decoration. You can do it with both feet from your baby or, if you have two kids, with a foot from the oldest and a foot from the youngest. It is also a good idea for a twins first Christmas ornament.
Danya used green polymer clay (similar to this one) to make the mistletoe footprints and baked it in the oven. You can find all the instructions on how to make it from her blog Danya Banya.
22) Baby Bottle Christmas Ornament
This baby bottle Christmas ornament from Stacey at The Soccer Mom Blog is so simple to make, yet so cute. All you need is a little baby bottle (preferably plastic, so it doesn’t get too heavy), some stuff for the decoration and a marker to write on the bottle. Oh, and the photo to go inside of course!
I guess the only challange might be to find a bottle that doesn’t have to much writing on it. Stacey used an Evenflo wide neck baby bottle but, if you could use one of your baby’s bottle, it would make it even more special.
23) Handprint Christmas Keepsake
I totally love these creative handprint Christmas keepsakes from Mod Podge Rocks as ideas for baby’s first Christmas. They are made from Crayola air dry clay and painted / decorated inside. I am actually definitely going to try one of these ones with my daughter this year.

24) Handprint Christmas Tree Ball
There are a few handprints on a Christmas tree ball ideas out there, but I think this one from Angie Holden beats them all. Santa is actually a handprint upside down and it’s so easy to make.
All you need is a black Christmas tree ball, some paint and decorations for the eyes, nose and hat.
25) Penguin Footprint Christmas Keepsake
And if it’s not the hands, you can use the feet again to create this adorable penguin footprint Christmas keepsake. The author of the blog made them with DIY salt dough, but you can definitely do them with air dry clay as well to make it simpler.
26) Photos on Wooden Blocks
Here’s another one of my favorites from Mod Podge Rocks, where your baby’s favorite photos are “painted” on little wooden blocks with mod podge.
This is probably one of the DIY ornaments that requires the most effort. You need to find some little wooden blocks (like these ones on Amazon), cut a whole through them, get some photos of the right size and follow the instructions to make them stick to the block. However, the final result is well worth it!
27) Salt Shaker Snow Globe
Here’s another great idea for a baby’s first Christmas keepsake from The Soccer Mom Blog: a salt shaker turned into a snow globe to hang from the tree.
This is also very easy to make. All you need is a salt shaker like this one from Amazon, a photo of your child with some artificial snow, and some stuff for the decoration. Perfect little DIY job if you don’t have a lot of time.
28) Recycled Christmas Keepsake
This lovely ornaments from Maggy at Red Ted Art are made with a recycled knitted cardigan or jumper from your baby, so it makes it for a perfect keepsake for baby’s first Christmas. If you are into sewing, you’ll love this idea!
29) Wood Photo Christmas Keepsake
This wooden Christmas ornament with baby’s photo from Sammie at Down Redbud Drive is another DIY idea that involves the use of mod podge to get the photo onto the wooden surface. You can find ready-to-use wood slice ornaments on Amazon here if you want.
30) First Trip to the Beach
Last but now least, you should check out the instructions on how to do this first trip to the beach ornament: a perfect keepsake to add to your Christmas tree if you’d like to remember your first trip to the beach with your baby.
What I like is that is uses a plastic disc ornament that makes it more unique, with a slightly different shape compared to the usual bauble. I also like the fact that you can customize it however you want! You could use artificial snow instead of sand and add whatever picture you want – it doesn’t have to be about the beach.
