How to Choose the Right Pacifier for your Baby
A pacifier can be a great asset for a parent, and is perfect for soothing a crying baby. However, no pacifier is the same, as there are a lot of different options out there. Plus, different babies might like different pacifiers.
So, before I dive into the list of cute and funny pacifiers for babies below, I want to make sure you know what to look for in a pacifier before buying one.

Pacifier Materials
Materials used in pacifiers for babies are all considered safe nowadays. Phthalates, for example, haven’t been used in pacifiers sold in the U.S. since 1999, and most pacifiers are also BPA-free.
The most common materials used for pacifiers are essentially two: silicone and rubber. While rubber is an all natural material, silicone is made from safe and naturally occurring chemical elements (silicon, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen). However, silicone may also include chemical softeners and preservatives that scare a few parents away.
The main advantage of rubber is that it is more flexible than silicone, so it mimics the breast better and is usually preferred by breastfed babies. It is also biodegradable, so a great option if you are environmentally conscious. The main disadvantage though is that it breaks down quickly: all natural rubber pacifiers should be replaced every 6 to 8 weeks, and always check for any signs of degradation before you give your little one their pacifier.
Silicone pacifiers, on the other hand, are way more durable and resistant: they last “forever” and can be boiled or steam sanitized without the worry of breakdown. They are also much cheaper compared to rubber pacifiers. The downside it that this material is thicker and more rigid compared to rubber, so breastfed babies might take a while to get used to it.
All pacifiers listed below are made of 100% food grade silicone, with the exception of a couple of them also containing ABS plastic (still considered safe for babies).
Nipple Shape
Pacifiers also come in different nipple shapes and, believe it or not, this can be a deal breaker for some babies who will reject a pacifier based on their shape.
The two most common nipple shapes for pacifiers are “rounded” and orthodontic”. Rounded ones feature a nipple shaped like a small ball (or a flattened ball), while orthodontic pacifiers are flat at the bottom and round at the top.
Orthodontic pacifiers are supposed to be better for the development of a baby’s palate and jaw, and research suggests that they are the preferred shape for older babies that start having teeth. However, rounded pacifiers are sometime easies to take for babies, particularly if they are breastfed.
All pacifiers listed below have an orthodontic nipple shape so, probably not the best if you have a newborn who’s breastfeeding. That said, if you are breastfeeding, it’s usually not recommended to introduce a pacifier for the first couple of months of baby’s life as to avoid nipple confusion (your baby refusing the breast because they like sucking on the pacifier).
Pacifier Size
Last but not least, pacifiers come in different sizes, usually 0-6 months, 6-18 months and 18 months and up. That said, lots of pacifiers come in only one-size: when that happens, they usually only fit babies from 3-6 months up.
All the pacifiers below (except a couple) come in one size and will only suit babies from 3-6 months, depending on the pacifier. So, if you have a newborn, you won’t have much choice for funny pacifiers unfortunately. And I couldn’t find anything else for newborns other than what’s listed below.
My Newborn won’t take the Pacifier!
If you really want your newborn to take a pacifier but you are struggling, understand that individual types and brands of pacifiers have their own unique fits for your baby, so don’t give up on your first try! It could just be that your baby prefers a slightly different shape or material in order for them to enjoy it.
Also, give your baby time to adapt to the different sucking motion, particularly if they are breastfeeding or you are transitioning from a rounded to an orthodontic shape. Keep offering the pacifier to your baby multiple times a day and see if they start getting used to it. It took a few days and multiple attempts with my daughters for them to start enjoying the pacifier.
All the cute and funny baby pacifiers below are pretty similar so, as long as you know that your baby is okay with the orthodontic shape and silicone material you should be fine!
Cute & Funny Pacifiers for Babies
Without further ado, here’s a list of the best cute and funny baby pacifiers.
1) Funny Lips Baby Pacifier
This No products found. is too cute and is the perfect choice for a funny pacifier for girls. It makes it look like your baby girl wants to give you a kiss the whole time and so many parents just love the design.
The one and only disadvantage is that there is no ring for a pacifier clip. That would have personally got me quite frustrated as, without a clip, my daughters used to constantly lose the pacifier.
Age recommendations: 3+ months.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.

2) Mustache Pacifier
This mustache pacifier, on the other hand, is a perfect funny pacifier for boys. Just make sure you don’t use it on a newborn (age recommendation is from 2 months), otherwise the mustache will look too big on baby’s face, and it might poke him in the eyes.
This specific pacifier below as a shield with holes for greater air flow. However, you can you can also buy a mustache ring that will fit any pacifier on Etsy here!
Also note that this specific pacifier contains some ABS (a type of plastic), and some parents have reported a strong smell of plastic when opening the package.
Age recommendations: 2-36 months.
Material: food grade silicone and ABS.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
3) Duck Pacifier
This duck pacifier also cracks me up – so funny and cute at the same time!
Similarly to the kissing lips pacifier, a disadvantage is that there is no ring for a pacifier clip. Also, pay attention to the age recommendations, because this will only fit babies that are a bit older (3-6 months).
Age recommendations: from 3-6 months.
Material: food grade silicone and ABS.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
4) Pull To Sound Alarm Pacifier
Another super funny baby pacifier is this one with the caption “Pull to sound alarm” on top. We all know what happens when we take a pacifier out of baby’s mouth, so don’t you dare do it unless it’s a real emergency!
You can choose between a red or white pacifier, and I like the fact that you can choose one for newborns (0-6 months) or one for older babies (6+ months). I also like that it comes with a protective cap – so handy to try and keep the pacifier clean!
Age recommendations: choice of 0-6 months, and 6+ months.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.

5) Grillz Pacifier
This grillz funny pacifier would make a perfect gift for Halloween or a costume party I reckon. It has a gold-covered teeth grill and will look hilarious on your baby’s face.
Note that it’s too big for little babies. But, the upside is that it can be used by adults as well – so, you could recycle it for an adult party as well!
Age recommendations: 6 months to 99 years.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
6) Two Front Teeth Pacifier
This pacifier with the two front teeth is possibly one of my favorite funny pacifiers for babies. I just can’t stop laughing when I look at it. Though I don’t think I could have my baby sucking on it the whole time – I would leave it for special occasions only.
I could not find any information with regards to the material or the shape of the nipple. Because it’s the same brand as the one above, I assume it’s made of silicone and it has an orthodontic nipple, but I am not 100% sure. Also, this pacifier has no ring for a clip.
Age recommendations: 3+ months.
Material: unknown.
Shape: unknown.
7) Teeth Pacifier
If teeth make you laugh, here’s another teeth pacifier: this time it’s the full set of teeth! This one has a ring for the clip though, so better if you are looking for that feature.
Age recommendations: 6 months to 99 years.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
8) Vampire Pacifier
Are you wanting to dress your baby up as a vampire for Halloween? Then this cool No products found. will be the perfect addition to their costume.
I can actually picture a baby with a black cape on and this pacifier in their mouth. Too bad I have a girl so I don’t think that will happen with my baby!
Note that this pacifier can be used for newborns as well according to the age recommendation. However, I think it’s probably too big for a newborn under 2 months of age. There’s also no ring for a clip.
Age recommendations: 0+ months.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.

9) Halloween Pumpkin Baby Pacifier
Here’s another funny baby pacifier for Halloween: a pumpkin pacifier! Pair it up with a pumpkin costume and your baby will look just too cute.
The trickiest think about this pacifier is the size. The description says it’s okay for infants, but the age recommendation is from 24 months up, so I would only buy it for a bigger toddler.
Age recommendations: 24+ months.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
10) Mute Button Pacifier
I love this No products found.! Sometimes you need your little one to stop being so noisy and the pacifier is literally like a mute button in so many occasions, so why not laugh at it?
There are so many designs and brands to choose from online, but the one below is made of 100% silicone and it has an orthodontic nipple, so would be one of my first choices if you like the idea.

11) My First Mouth Guard Pacifier

Age recommendations: choice of 0-6 months, and 6+ months.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.

12) Panic Button Pacifier
Another hilarious one is this No products found.: I totally love the idea. And it’s the one of the few funny pacifiers for babies listed here that is small enough for a newborn as well.
The main issue I have about this pacifier is that they don’t specify the material. I mean, they say it’s BPA and PVC-free, and that it meets all child safety standards, but I don’t know if that would satisfy me as a parent. Also, I am not too sure about the nipple shape: other pacifiers from the same brand seem to have a round nipple shape instead of a flat one, but you’d need to check with them.
Age recommendations: 0-6 months.
Material: unknown – BPA and PVC free.
Shape: unknwon.

13) Tongue Pacifier
This very funny baby pacifier with babys tongue sticking out is sure to transform your sweet-faced child into a baby with attitude! Dress them up like in the picture below and you just can’t stop laughing.
The age for this pacifier is not specified, but it’s from the same brand of some of the teeth pacifiers listed above, so should be okay to use for a baby who’s at least 6 months old.
Age recommendations: unknown.
Material: food grade silicone.
Shape: orthodontic pacifier.
